China strongly protests!

According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Canada, on May 4th, when Ambassador Cong Peiwu met with the head of the Canadian Foreign Ministry, he expounded his solemn position and protested strongly against the Canadian side’s threat to expel China’s diplomatic and consular personnel in Canada based on the lies of individual politicians and the media that "China interfered in Canada’s internal affairs".

Ambassador Cong pointed out that China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and Chinese diplomatic and consular officials have always abided by relevant international conventions and China-Canada consular agreements and performed their duties according to law. In addition, some politicians and the media, out of ideological prejudice, wantonly manipulate China-related issues, and wantonly attack and discredit China in order to gain political self-interest and attract people’s attention. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this.

Ambassador Cong emphasized that the normal performance of Chinese diplomatic and consular personnel should not be discredited, and China’s national sovereignty, security and development interests should not be infringed. China strongly urges Canada to immediately stop this self-directed political farce and not to go further and further on the wrong and dangerous road. If Canada insists on provocation, we will resolutely accompany it to the end.

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 4th, spokesperson Mao Ning made a statement on relevant issues. China has always opposed any country’s interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and has never had any interest in interfering in Canadian internal affairs. At the same time, China resolutely safeguards its own interests in sovereign security and development, and resolutely opposes any act that interferes in China’s internal affairs and harms China’s interests.

The day before, on May 3, the spokesman of the Embassy in Canada made a speech on the so-called "Chinese threat to Canadian parliamentarians" by some politicians and the media.

The spokesman pointed out that in March 2021, in response to Canada and the United States’ unilateral sanctions against Xinjiang, China’s relevant personnel and entities based on lies and false information, China announced that it would impose sanctions on them. Michael chong, a Canadian member, was included in the above sanctions list because he proposed and promoted the passage of a wrong motion concerning Xinjiang and grossly interfered in China’s internal affairs out of his own political interests.

The spokesman stressed that China resolutely safeguards national sovereignty, security and development interests, and resolutely opposes any act that interferes in China’s internal affairs and harms China’s interests. It is only natural for China to impose sanctions on people and entities that seriously harm China’s interests, and it is entirely self-inflicted for people like Michael chong to be sanctioned.
