What is the difficulty of criticism and self-criticism？
Looking at the glorious course of the party’s struggle for a hundred years, criticism and self-criticism are not only the fine traditional style of our party, but also the important content of self-revolution. Making good use of this powerful weapon of transforming ideas is an important measure to study and implement the spirit of the 20th Party Congress and further promote the new great project of Party building in the new era.
Criticism and self-criticism are the party’s heirlooms.
Things develop in the struggle of contradictions, in the constant negation and negation of negation. Mao Zedong clearly pointed out that "if there is no ideological struggle to solve contradictions within the Party, the life of the Party will stop".
Gutian Conference is a typical example of early successful use of criticism and self-criticism. During the Yan ‘an rectification movement, through in-depth and systematic criticism and self-criticism, the party’s style of work was transformed and the party achieved unprecedented unity. Mao Zedong pointed out in the report of the Seventh National Congress: "the Communist Party of China (CPC), armed with Marxism–Leninism’s theoretical thought, has produced a new work style among the people of China, which is mainly the style of combining theory with practice, the style of being closely linked with the people and the style of self-criticism." This has raised criticism and self-criticism to an unprecedented institutional level, and formally settled down in the form of one of the three major styles of work, forming a new work style of the party.
After the founding of New China, in order to fulfill the historical task of enriching the people and strengthening the country, the Communist Party of China (CPC), as the ruling party, urgently needs to strengthen the party’s own construction, especially to improve inner-party democracy and realize a standardized inner-party democratic life, which promotes the development of criticism and self-criticism. Deng Xiaoping pointed out: "In order to maintain the unity and unity of the Party on the basis of Marxism–Leninism, and to help comrades overcome shortcomings and correct mistakes in time, we must greatly develop criticism and self-criticism within the Party." The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of China formally enshrined "criticism and self-criticism" as an inner-party democratic system in party constitution, which became an important part of the political and organizational life of leading cadres in party member.
When Socialism with Chinese characteristics entered a new era, the CPC Central Committee with the Supreme Leader as the core made a major strategic plan to strictly manage the Party in an all-round way, carried out a series of activities such as the Party’s mass line education and practice, enhanced the political nature, times, principles and militancy of the political life within the Party, and emphasized serious criticism and self-criticism, thus achieving the effects of "blushing and sweating", "biting one’s ear and pulling one’s sleeve" and "looking in the mirror". General Secretary of the Supreme Leader pointed out: "We should boldly use the weapon of criticism and self-criticism, use it frequently and make it a habit, a consciousness and a responsibility, so that the more we use this weapon, the more effective it is." Criticism and self-criticism have become the "medicine" and "weapon" for strengthening Party building in the new era, and injected new vitality into promoting the Party’s self-revolution.
There are misunderstandings in understanding and practice
At present, in carrying out criticism and self-criticism, there are still some misunderstandings in understanding and practice, mainly in the following aspects.
Don’t want to criticize. The performance is as follows: First, subjectively don’t want to. I think it is unnecessary to carry out criticism and self-criticism as long as the work can get by. Second, it is objectively difficult to do. It is considered that there is no quantitative index to carry out criticism and self-criticism, and it is not easy to assess and quantify, and it is difficult to implement it. Third, I don’t want to face. Everyone works under the same roof and works together for a long time, which leads to the phenomenon of "nice guy" and no one wants to "offend" people.
Dare not criticize. The performance is as follows: First, fear. Individual comrades do not know enough about the principle and militancy of carrying out criticism and self-criticism, and they cannot criticize their superiors for fear of affecting their future; Dare not criticize the same level, fearing that it will affect the relationship; I don’t want to criticize myself, for fear of affecting my image. The second is to avoid the heavy. Some comrades avoid talking about important issues, talk about minor issues at length, or praise them in the name of "criticism". Third, people follow suit. Some comrades have the mentality of following the crowd, and dare not talk about issues that others have not talked about. What others have said goes on to say that they are too superficial to touch the essence of the problem.
Cannot criticize. The performance is as follows: first, self-esteem is strong, and there is something wrong with it. Some comrades can only praise, but can’t criticize, and they can’t listen to opposing voices and jump at the touch. Second, it is narrow-minded and cannot be treated correctly. Some comrades have been working in a department for a long time, and the pattern is not large enough and the vision is not wide enough. It is easy to take well-intentioned criticism as an attack on themselves and cannot correctly treat different opinions at work. Third, the system is lacking and the working mechanism is not perfect. The system of democratic life meeting is not perfect, the preparation before the meeting is insufficient, the communication is insufficient, and the methods at the meeting are improper, which makes it difficult to carry out democratic life with high quality.
Will not criticize. The performance is as follows: first, it does not grasp the essence. Water the trees, water the roots, and make friends. Some comrades are used to talking about things, limiting problems to specific affairs and work, and paying no attention to finding problems from ideology, style and organization. The second is divorced from reality. Do not pay attention to the specific analysis of specific issues, follow the cat and draw a tiger, be arrogant and arrogant, not targeted, criticism can’t get to the heart, and talk about rhetoric and empty words. The third is "personal vendetta". Bringing trivial matters, disputes, unpleasantness, etc. in life to work, taking the opportunity to take revenge for personal gain, and getting it off your chest will only hurt feelings and not solve problems.
Rejuvenate the vitality of criticism and self-criticism
Strengthen theoretical study and strengthen ideals and beliefs. Adhere to the study of Socialism with Chinese characteristics Thought of the Supreme Leader in the New Era and the spirit of the 20th Party Congress as the most important political task at present and in the future, comprehensively and systematically study, follow up the study in time, integrate with practical study, deeply understand the decisive significance of "two establishment", resolutely achieve "two maintenance", and constantly improve political judgment, political understanding and political execution.
Adhere to the blade inward and focus on solving problems. To carry out criticism and self-criticism, we should adhere to the problem orientation, carry forward the spirit of self-revolution with inward cutting edge, and focus our criticism on specific work. We can neither avoid or cover up the wrong facts, nor exaggerate or narrow them, let alone imagine them subjectively and make sense out of nothing, so as to really solve the problem.
Standardize the implementation of the system and improve organizational life. Promoting the institutionalization of inner-party criticism and self-criticism is an important guarantee to improve the quality of inner-party political life. Strictly implement the party’s organizational life system, and establish and improve the leadership system and guarantee system for inner-party criticism and self-criticism.
Do your homework in advance and have a heart-to-heart talk. Carrying out heart-to-heart talks is a good medicine for doing ideological work in depth and solving problems in a targeted manner. It should be combined with reality and used flexibly. Practice shows that "red face sweating" and "biting the ear and pulling the sleeve" are all out of concern and love for comrades. As long as both sides are open and honest, they can carry out criticism and self-criticism with high quality.
